The Rocking Chair Project
On September 27th, 2024 Hurricane Helene caused immeasurable flooding, damage, and loss to our region. As we continue long-term disaster recovery efforts, we are accepting donations for rocking chairs to be delivered to those in our community with affected homes. Whether their homes have been repaired or fully rebuilt, we want to gift our neighbors something that represents the spirit of a community coming together and where better than their porch!

United is the Way: Strength in Every Seat is a 60-90 minute, high-impact, team-building session that blends leadership development with hands-on volunteerism. Participants work in small teams to build rocking chairs that will be donated to families served by local nonprofits—while strengthening the very leadership skills your company values most.

What it Looks Like
Teams of 2-3 employees receive chair-building kits. Each person takes on a leadership role (Team Lead, Builder, Quality Checker, etc.). Along the way, they practice core leadership skills: visioning, delegation, communication, adaptability, and accountability
The twist? It’s not just a build—it’s a mission. Every chair is donated to a local family in need. Debrief includes a short, powerful empathy simulation that connects the teamwork they just practiced to the daily realities faced by many in our community.
