2021 Local Campaign kickoff

Sponsored by Truist
Additional Support from Kim & Keith Holley and our Board of Directors

EVENT DETAILS CHANGED!

Due to the rising amount of positive covid cases, we are adjusting our Local Campaign Kickoff scheduled for tomorrow, August 5th.

Our previous plan to have all attendees together for lunch from 11am – 1pm will now turn into a drop-by style event from 10am – 3pm in the same location (parking lot behind HomeTrust Bank on N Roan St). Project BBQ will still be available to provide lunch for those in attendance from 11pm – 1pm, but we will start the volunteer event at 10am and keep it going until 3pm for those who would like to drop by and participate!

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This year’s volunteer project was created with those unexpected and uncontrollable situations in mind. We will be creating emergency basic needs packages for family members who are staying at the hospital that will be filled with personal hygiene items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and soap. The packages will also include other items like chapstick, washcloths, notepads, pens, snacks etc. Items for the bags were donated by local companies and organizations including the City of Johnson City, DoubleTree, Crown Labs, Second Harvest Food Bank, East TN Insurance, Northeast Community Credit Union, Sturgill Orthodontics, and United Way’s Board of Directors. These bags will be donated to our local hospitals. We hope this helps families in our area and relieves some stress of our healthcare workers!

We hope that you can still join us for a few minutes!

Each year, United Way of East TN Highlands hosts a campaign kickoff to bring together our board of directors, campaign team, company leaders, donors, volunteers, and all other members of our community to publicly kickoff the start of a new campaign year. This year, we are excited to be kicking off in-person with a tailgate style event in the parking lot behind HomeTrust Bank on N Roan Street.

Special thanks to Celebrate Rentals and Project BBQ for in-kind donations to make this event possible!
