Created by United Way of East TN Highlands, in partnership with Carter County Bank, the Financial Empowerment Center was formed to help people in our community move from a struggling financial position to a state of financial stability with new saving habits, higher credit scores, lower debt burdens and professional development opportunities.

With our main location in Downtown Elizabethton, we have additional hubs throughout Washington, Carter and Johnson Counties. Appointments are preferred so that we can properly prepare for your personal situation.

Access to computers & internet

With computers, printers and internet access that’s free to use, we’re removing barriers to make assistance more accessible. Local partners with assistance will be bookmarked for easy navigation.

Professional Skill Development

Are you looking to develop new skills, get your first job, or move your career forward? Our center has access to Goodwill’s Skills to Succeed Academy to lead you through certifications that help you take the next steps!

When is the center open?

Our main Financial Empowerment Center in Elizabethton is open on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 11am – 3pm.

 

Do I need an appointment?
Appointments are not required, but they are suggested. To speak with someone about an appointment time, call 423-543-6975.
Can you help me with my credit score?
Yes! We are partnered with multiple financial experts that can work with you on raising your credit score.
Does it cost to use the computers?
No. Using the computers and internet in the FEC is a free service that our FECs offer.
