ABOUT THE SOCIAL INNOVATION FUND
The United Way of East TN Highlands created the Social Innovation Fund in 2020. The fund will be used to support new programs aimed to meet social needs by filling gaps in our community related to health, education, or financial stability. Nonprofit or community organizations with programs less than 2 years old are eligible to apply. You must be a 501(c)3 or covered under one in order to apply.
How Funds Are Distributed
ETSU’s Student Government Association (SGA), along with a few key volunteers from our community will come together to review all of the applications for funding. Through this process, the group will look to narrow it down to up to six finalists. All three finalists will be invited to a live pitch competition (location TBD), where they will be judged by the entire crowd in attendance (so invite your friends if you are pitching!) on May 13,2021 in the evening.
The amount of funds available will determine the amount of funds available. In Spring of 2021, the Social Innovation Fund plans do distribute it’s first round of funding with a total of at least $30,000 available with the intent of awarding three $10,000 grants.
