In Carter County, our Elizabethton Senior Center provides a wide range of services to help our seniors lives happier and healthier lives, because when a person attends a senior center regularly they not only eat healthier, exercise more and keep their minds active, they are also less likely to be a victim of scams or abuse.
While many will see the meals served and the activities that are planned to keep the elders healthy and active, what you likely won’t see is those who get help far beyond the walls of the center itself. Over the past year, the Elizabethton Senior Center has provided delivery of food boxes to fight against malnourishment of our seniors. They’ve made daily calls to check on regular attendees who were unable to make it to the center due to health concerns. They’ve even gone so far as to work with a senior who was being neglected in a family member’s home by helping her move to a safer location.
The Elizabethton Senior Center is here for the health of our seniors. They’re here to support the mental strength of our seniors. And they’re here to serve seniors of all income levels. We appreciate the work they do and are excited to provide funding to them through 2022!
