United Way of East TN Highlands accepts applications from all nonprofits who serve the people of Washington, Carter, Johnson & Southern Sullivan Counties of Northeast Tennessee that work in the area of health, education and financial stability. Funding is delivered in monthly installments via EFT, beginning in April and ending the following March.


The 2022-23 application is now open!

The application to receive funding for the 2022-23 year is now open and must be completed in full by December 15, 2021.

Here’s a list of agency specific documents (in PDF form) you’ll need to complete the application:

  1. Most recent year’s audited financials
  2. Most recent year’s Form 990 or Form 990EZ*
  3. Audit and management letter from your most recently completed fiscal year
  4. 501(c)3 status letter from the IRS*
  5. List of current Board of Directors
  6. A copy of your Charitable Solicitation Renewal*
  7. Projected Program Budget (download the excel template)

*If you are a government housed organization, you are not required to submit items 2, 4 and 6. Instead, please submit this filler PDF (click to download) to let us know you are exempt from the question.

If you do not have any of the above documents submitted as a part of your application, you will not be able to finish the application and it will be considered incomplete. Agency = Your Nonprofit
