Hurricane Helene Anniversary Events

In 2024, Hurricane Helene caused widespread devastation across Northeast Tennessee and the Appalachian region. A year later, our communities have made incredible strides in recovery. The following events are a chance to recognize this progress while honoring those who were affected.

Tree Planting/Memorial – Hosted by County Mayor Mathis and City of Newport Mayor Dykes

Art Walk & Benefit Dinner for Long Term Recovery – Dinner by local restaurants (ticket purchase and registration required for dinner only)

  • Cocke County Parks and Rec providing food for up to 2000 people (hamburgers, hotdogs, pork bbq, sides, drinks and desserts)
  • Demonstrations, inflatables for kids, face-painting, activities, touch-a-truck, raft demos, helicopter demo, First Responder observance and appreciation
