WASHINGTON COUNTY TO HONOR VOLUNTEERS

Jonesborough TN  November 1, 2021— Nominations for the Thirteenth Annual Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards are now being accepted for Washington County. The awards will celebrate the efforts of volunteers who strive to improve their communities through service.

One youth under age 25 and one adult volunteer will be selected in Washington County to receive this prestigious award. Nominees will be judged based on the community’s need of the volunteer service performed, initiative taken to perform the service, creativity used to solve a community problem and impact of the volunteer service on the community.

Nomination forms for Washington County Volunteers can be obtained by emailing WashingtonCoVolunteers@gmail.com or by calling 703-388-6060. Nomination forms may be emailed to the address above or mailed to Washington County Volunteers, Jonesborough Community Chest, PO Box 236, Jonesborough TN 37659.  Applications must be received no later than November 16.

Recipients of the Washington County volunteer awards will be honored at the Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards ceremony in Franklin, TN on February 7, 2021.

The Tennessee Volunteer Awards for Washington County are being coordinated by the Jonesborough Community Chest.   An independent panel selected by the United Way of East Tennessee Highlands and the Community Chest will select the two volunteers to represent Washington County at the State Level.

Volunteer Tennessee is coordinating the Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards at the state level. Volunteer Tennessee is the 25-member bipartisan citizen board appointed by the Governor to oversee AmeriCorps and service-learning programs and to advance volunteerism and citizen service to solve community problems in the Volunteer State.
