We are saddened and overwhelmed by the devastation Hurricane Helene has brought to our community. Our hearts go out to our families, friends and neighbors who have suffered profound losses—of loved ones, homes, and the security of their daily lives. In response, we are tirelessly working alongside community leaders and local nonprofits to provide unwavering support and resources to all those affected by this disaster. Together, we are committed to overcoming these challenging times.” Leslie Dalton- CEO, United Way of East TN Highlands

In the wake of the unprecedented flooding brought on by Hurricane Helene, United Way of East TN Highlands is actively responding to the urgent needs of our communities in Northeast Tennessee. Our response focuses on two critical fronts:

  1. Providing Essential Information: United Way is committed to ensuring that affected residents receive timely and accurate information about available resources. We are coordinating with local authorities and community organizations to disseminate updates on shelter locations, food and water distribution points, medical aid, and more. Our dedicated 211 helpline is operational 24/7 to guide individuals and families on how to access these vital services. Please call 211 from any cell phone or landline or visit 211.org to find resources near you.
  2. Supporting Nonprofits and Emergency Management Teams: We recognize the pivotal role played by emergency management teams and local nonprofits during such crises. As emergency management teams are working at rescue and recovery, United Way is gathering funding and volunteers to be ready to mobilize when needed. Our efforts are focused on bolstering their capacity to manage the immediate crisis and to aid in the recovery and rebuilding efforts that will follow.
