The Johnson County Community Center. The only organization in the Mountain City community providing daily youth services.
The community center is focused on developing the youth of the Mountain City community through educational growth, increased social skills, better behavioral responses, and helping them live healthier lives, nutritionally and mentally.
Educational growth is aided with homework assistance, tutoring and instructional programming. Social skills are enhanced through an environment that fosters friendships while learning. Behavioral skills are built through guidance, leading by example, and staff mentorship. Healthy development is supported with meals, nutritional education and physical activity. Collectively, this works to build youth that are more rounded and confident.
With 4 staff members (3 of which are part-time) and 14 volunteers, the Johnson County Community Center served 179 of our youth last year and provided more than 3,000 meals. At United Way, we’re happy to be supporting the Johnson County Community Center and the 200+ children it is projected to serve in 2022.
