United Way of East TN Highlands fights for the health, education and financial stability of our community by partnering with programs that work to improve lives in our communities. All of these agencies have been fully vetted by a group of volunteers from our communities.

Adult Day Service: Transportation
Adult Day Services (ADS) provides personalized care for adults who are physically, socially, emotionally and mentally challenged, or frail due to advanced age. ADS helps older people maintain their independence by providing stimulating activities including daily exercise and craft projects. They offer an opportunity for our clients to shop for themselves with outing to the local Wal-Mart and K-Mart.
The American Red Cross of Northeast Tennessee provides emergency assistance, disaster relief, and disaster preparedness education in Carter, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, Union and Washington counties in Tennessee.

Appalachia Service Project is a Christian ministry, open to all people, that inspires hope and service through volunteer home repair and replacement in Central Appalachia.

As one of the country’s first Boy Scouts of America programs, the Sequoyah Council has helped mold and shape the lives of more than 1 million young people since we were founded in 1936. Each year, they serve more than 5,800 youth and adults throughout a 16-county service area in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
Boys and Girls Club of Elizabethton / Carter County
The Boys & Girls Club of Elizabethton/Carter County has been a cornerstone of the community since opening it doors. Serving hundreds of youth each year, they provide a safe, structured and positive environment for young people after school, during holidays and summer vacation.
Boys and Girls Club of Johnson City / Washington County
The Boys & Girls Club of Johnson City / Washington County to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
CCDP focuses on seven evidence-based prevention strategies including; providing information, enhancing skills, providing support, enhancing access and reducing barriers, changing consequences, changing physical design, and modifying policies.
The Carter County Senior Center works to provide nutritious meals to home bound and congregate clients 60 years of age & also handicapped individuals.
CHIPS provides shelter and services to victims of domestic violence and their
children that will enable them to begin and maintain a life free of violence.
Coalition for Kids is on a mission to help children in need by providing a safe place with caring staff and volunteers. They offer a wide variety of activities specifically designed to instill confidence, foster leadership, strengthen character and cultivate a pasion for knowing God and walking with Him!
Contact 211 of Northeast Tennessee, Inc. provides three crucial services to the community: Information & Referrals, Helpline, and Reassurance Calls. Services are free, confidential and available to everyone. The organization serves eight counties in Northeast Tennessee, with a population of over 500,000.
The mission of Family Promise of Greater Johnson City (FPJC) is to help homeless and low income families achieve sustainable independence. They provide a network of faith congregations and community agencies to promote a collaborative response for homeless families with children.
Fit For Success
Our Fit For Success program was created to give our local schools the ability to provide clothing, footwear, and personal hygiene to students in need. Once a student’s basic needs are met, they’re able to be more attentive and engage in the classroom, which leads to a higher level of learning.
Safe House provides 28 beds in two distinct domestic violence shelters, located in undisclosed locations in Kingsport and Johnson City. Safe House provides safe confidential shelter to any victim of domestic violence as well as their depend children.
Frontier Health: Watauga Behavioral
Outpatient mental health, substance abuse, and co-occurring programs for adults, children, adolescents, and families. Case management services (home/community-based services) are also available. Case management supports treatment goals and provides linkage to community resources.
Girls Inc: Afterschool Program
Girls Incorporated is an organization designed to meet the needs of today’s girls and tomorrow’s women. It is a center-based program that provides a place for girls to meet and learn in a safe and supportive atmosphere. Girls Incorporated programs provide information, skills and resources to effectively assist in developing girls’ capacity to be self-sufficient, responsible members of the community.

Girl Scouts of the Southern Appalachia
The Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians serves 46 counties from southwest Virginia, through east Tennessee, and into north Georgia. United Way of East TN Highlands is supporting Girl Scout troops across Washington, Carter and Johnson Counties of Northeast TN.
Johnson County Cancer Support Group (no website available)
Johnson County Community Center
The Johnson County Community Center has educational programs through local agencies, and volunteers. They offer one on one tutoring, evening meal or snack all staff are CPR First Aid certified and have background checks.
Jonesborough Senior Center: My Ride
MyRide is a volunteer senior transportation service providing transportation assistance for Senior Citizens age 60+. Providing door-THROUGH-door transportation for doctor appointments, grocery shopping, beauty/barber shop appointments and other social gatherings.
Personal Support Services (PSS) is the exclusive provider of homemaker services for the Department of Human Services’ Adult Protective Services (APS). Their clients are some of the most vulnerable adults in Tennessee.
Project Access offers a way to break that cycle and help individuals and communities to be healthier. With a strong network of providers in place, strict program guidelines for patients, and a requirement that patients have a primary care provider, Project Access effectively lessens the negative impact of the uninsured in Northeast Tennessee.
Founded in 2012, Red Legacy Recovery serves all eight counties of Northeast Tennessee. As an all women’s recovery organization, their mission is to support women in recovery. They provide them with the skills to cope, transportation for medically assisted treatment, meals, employment help, and classes.
Second Harvest Foodbank of Northeast TN
Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee has led the effort to end hunger in Northeast Tennessee since 1986. An affiliate of the Feeding America Network of Food Banks, Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee’s Second Harvest is the only food bank serving the eight county region incorporating Carter, Greene, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, and Washington counties.
Chartered in 1961 and affiliated with the Arc Tennessee, Arc of Washington County is dedicated to promoting the growth of nurturing communities where all people have the opportunity to join in fellowship and valued contribution to family, friends, neighborhood, work, spiritual, and community life.
The Salvation Army of Johnson City strives to meet the needs of the community through sheltering, feeding, and providing supportive housing to those who need need it most.
